Black & White Simple Elegance at Glenelg Golf Club

Alison & Brett Jennings • 20th March 2010

Alison and Brett met through friends four years ago when Brett recognised Alison from a photo he’d previously seen of her wearing fancy dress … but according to Alison that’s another story altogether! The couple lived in London for 15 months and during that time, they travelled extensively. However, no trip was as special as the surprise visit to Monte Carlo that Brett organised.

While soaking up the dazzling views from the fabulous Hotel De Paris on Monaco’s Place du Casino, Brett presented Alison with a stunning ring featuring an aqua marine flanked by two diamonds. Alison was surprised, thrilled and excited all at once.

With their big day approaching, Alison chose a beautiful dupion silk strapless gown and a lace edged fingertip veil. She designed and had made a delightful lace bolero, which she wore during the reception. For her bridesmaids, Alison opted for simple knee length black satin cocktail dresses. The groom and groomsmen’s boutonnieres were silk ranunculus with green berries, silver leaves and feather details, and were also designed by Alison.

Brett and Alison were married in a simple, personalised ceremony at Westminster School Chapel, where Alison’s parents had also married. The wedding date had special meaning to the couple as the day after the wedding was Brett’s parents’ 40th wedding anniversary. The couple’s ceremony also featured an Irish wedding blessing read by Alison’s grandmother, and three songs sung by one of Alison’s life long friends.

Alison and Brett’s black, white, silver and purple themed reception was attended by guests from the UK, Japan and all over Australia. Alison and Brett's wedding cake was a delicious, traditional three-tiered fruitcake made by Alison's illustrious grandmother and decorated by the florist. The couple featured photos of their parents from their weddings on their gift table, and selected delicious white and milk chocolate golf balls for their bomboniere - a perfect choice given their golf club reception venue.
